Aside from consulting our approachable wine directors and servers - all of whom possess encyclopedic knowledge of vino - you can enroll in our groundbreaking Eno-Versity. This unique initiative is designed to educate your taste buds in a fashion that's fun, comprehensive, interactive, and unpretentious. Our classes touch on the histories, types, and pairings of wine. Are you already an educated wine enthusiast? Eno-Versity will also instruct you on the dynamics of cheese and chocolate as well. Whether you're a novice or expert, young or old, Eno-Versity will send you off with a fine pedigree in the art of exquisite taste.

  • March 16th- Going Grün
  • Grüner Veltliner that is.  Six fascinating examples of this delightful grape: not all are from Austria! Find out more about this little known treasure.  Paired with Fondue. March 16, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • April 20th- Viva l’Alsace!

    Check out cheeses and wines from this delightful region of Northeastern France.

    From Gewurztraminer to Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir to Crèmant. April 20, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • May 18th- Expression Winery: Latitudes

    Explore terroir with Expression winery. These pinots are all grown at different latitudes. We will taste Pinot Noir of identical clones grown at Lat. 34 (Santa Rita Hills), Lat. 38 (Sonoma Coast) Lat. 39 (Anderson Valley, and Lat. 44 (Eola-Amity Hills) This is going to be a Treat!  May 18, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • June 15th- Tuscany revisited.

    We will explore the lesser known DOC’s of Tuscany and explore some of the fascinating examples of charcuterie and cheese. June 15, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • July 20th- Rosé Colored glasses:

    Everything does seem better with Rosé!  We will taste pink treats from Southern France, Northern Spain, Central California and New Zealand. A perfect way to beat the heat!  July 20, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • August 17th- Vino Gallago: Exploring the Galician Coast

    On the Northwest coast of Spain lies a world full green grass and mist, a world full of cheese and crisp heady whites and earthy, fruity reds. August 17, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • September 21st- Merlot and Behold:

    Merlot is a grape that grabs terroir when grown well. We will taste examples that reflect terroir and winemaking style from Bordeaux, Tuscany, California, Washington and New Zealand. September 21, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • October 19th- The Legacy of Laura Chenel

    From the mother of American goat cheese, we will taste the next wave of artisanal selections paired with wines from Carneros. Don’t miss this one: it will be an eye opener!  October 19, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • November 16th- Beaujolais Vielle

    Yes, we will taste the Nouveau, but more importantly the classified crus of Beaujolais from Morgon to Chiroubles and Moulin-au-Vent to St. Amour. Gougeres too! November 16, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

  • December 14th- The 750ml Stocking Stuffer

    Last minute gifts abound as we taste some affordable gifts and chocolates packaged for any occasion. And we’ll have stockings to boot!  December 14, 2010, 6:00 p.m. $25.

Sip and learn the many styles of fortified wine and all the terminology and history behind them. Morales will pair several cheeses to match these fortified wines from ENO's worldly selection.   • May 3rd ENO-Versity: Sugar, Spice and everythingChocolate! 7 p.m., $25. Spice this Mother's Day themed ENO-Versity up with wines that will pair with ENO's selection of spicy chocolates. Chocolates will include the ENO signature three-pepper chocolate, a curry saffron truffle from Madison's Gail Ambrosius and a caramel apple cinnamon truffle from Schaumburg's Chocolatines.   • June 21st ENO-Versity: Chardonnay on the Patio, 7 p.m., $25. Toast to the first day of summer in Chicagowhat better way than with a selection of Chardonnay on ENO's scenic patio. Take in the sights and sounds of the Mag Mile while learning what Chardonnay selections make for the perfect patio white.   • July 12th ENO-Versity: ABC, Anything But Chardonnay, 7 p.m., $25. Relax on ENO's patio for this Wine Directors Choice ENO-Versity class where the wine selections will be anything but Chardonnay.   • March 12th-CHANEL Eno-Versity
    5:30; $45 per person
    This exclusive class will define the parallels between factors influencing the creation of unique fragrances and fine wines. CHANEL will highlight select fragrances and share key pieces of information with guests, helping them to understand their olfactory sense of style. Guests will discover the fragrance that compliments their persona and style based on which individual characteristics and family of aromas they are most attracted to. This will be tied in directly to the similarities of the relationship between a person and their preferred wine style. The nose, or olfactory sense, is the most important tool in not only smelling a wine, but tasting it. Guests will learn to use this sense of smell and then taste the specific characteristics of each wine.

Eno-Versity: A wine lovers series

Classes are from 2-4 pm. Enrollment in ENO-Versity is $150 plus tax per class, per student; participants must be at least 21 years of age. This includes 6-10 wines, appetizers and an interactive wine education featuring photos, maps etc. Maximum 8 guests per Eno-versity.

  • March 13th – Class: Core Wine Co. Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara
    Cult wines are for snobs. These wines are for people who want their wine to taste good and care about how the grapes were grown. David Corey specializes in small batch vineyard driven wines. This event promises to be a very nerdy affair.

  • April 10th – Class & 1500 OCEAN Connoisseur Dinner: Skylark Wine Co., Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino
    Rob Perkins and John Lancaster have directed the beverage program at Boulevard Restaurant in San Francisco for the last ten years. In 2004, the duo launched Skylark Wine Co. and began producing Syrah, Pinot Blanc and Cabernet from small vineyards in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino Counties. These wines are geeky and sexy, alternating from elegant and austere to hedonistic and bold. Rob Perkins was born and raised here in Coronado; consider this a fun homecoming.
  • April 24th – Class: Master Sommelier Larry O'Brien, South Africa
    South Africa is among the most anticipated new waves of wine regions to emerge in recent years. Join ENO and meet one of America's Master Sommeliers for a very delicious, very informative, very funny cheese and wine adventure and get a first-class look at the emerging South African Wine Country.
  • May 15th – 1500 OCEAN Connoisseur Dinner: Forteleza Tequila
    One of the most respected small family distillers to produce tequila will be on hand for a very special dinner in 1500 OCEAN. Three courses will be paired with cocktails designed to bring Chef Brian Sinnott's stellar cuisine and the Fortaleza tequilas together. We will also speak at length about the history and modern traditions associated with tequila and how it is made. Join Ted Glennon and the owner of Forteleza Tequila for an unforgettable celebration of this very unique spirit.
  • June 12th – Class & 1500 OCEAN Connoisseur Dinner: Father's Day Celebration
    For Father's Day, ENO and 1500 OCEAN will be hosting a class and dinner based around Dad's two favorite things: whiskey and beer. Special guests from the world-renowned San Diego craft beer community will be on hand to discuss their beers.
  • July 24th – Class & 1500 OCEAN Connoisseur Dinner: Ap Vin, Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs, San Francisco
    Andrew Vignello crafts single vineyard Pinot Noir from over 12 of California's most revered vineyards from Santa Barbara to Mendocino. To open and enjoy side by side is to truly see the dramatic difference between the vineyards' contributions. This ENO class will be followed by a four-course dinner at 1500 OCEAN. The class will focus on Andrew's wines from vineyards south of Monterey, while the dinner will spotlight the northern half of the state.

Eno-Versity classes will be held at 4pm and cost is $35 per person. Class dates and topic are subject to change. Space is limited, please call 619-522-8546 to reserve.
