Wine on Tap

Posted March 11, 2011 in Going Green!, Wine, Wine Everywhere, Winemakers

The ENO Chicago Intercontinental was the first ENO to launch wine on tap recently.  We worked with Silvertap wines to custome blend a red and white to feature in the upcoming months.  Wine on tap fits everything ENO stands for- great wines, good value, sustainability, and working directly with the winery. I went to San Francisco to meet with Greg from Silvertap to customize the blend.  The red will be a multi-vintage blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Merlot.  The white is a Chardonay and Sauvignon Blanc blend.  They were made with our cheeses and chocolates in mind, of course.  The red is going to be a perfect match for our Aragones cheese from Spain.  The white practically screams for the Driftless sheep's milk cheese with basil and olive oil.

The savings in bottling and labeling allows us to offer these wines at $9 a glass.  The big winner other than the customer is the environment.  We estimate the kegs will save us almost 5 tons in waste over one year!  The kegs are lightweight plastic so they can be returned and reused!

Please stop in and try to next in wine!  The guest response has been tremendous and there have been several media outlets mentioning the effort to bring wine on tap to the masses.  http://tastingtable.com/entry_detail/chicago/2941
